Writing Pad, an award-winning writing school in Los Angeles, employs 100% writers—70% work in TV & film. So, when the Writers Guild of America went on strike in 2023, we wanted to show our support.

As “The Pad’s” Social Media Manager—and a fellow TV writer—I ideated, executed, and developed creative materials for the “Solidarity with the WGA” campaign, grounded in social media marketing and grassroots efforts.

Leveraging industry influencers, the campaign spotlighted Pad instructors—writers and creators from top series like The Handmaid’s Tale and Yellowjackets—showing them on the frontlines in their fight to earn a livable wage and improve working conditions in writers’ rooms. Our team even joined writers on the picket lines, showing our support via food & water donations and by offering free online writing courses so creatives could advance their craft while unemployed.

The results? They rocked!

Social media marketing produced a 217% increase in online engagement, generating new leads, high-profile partnerships, and followers. Even better? WGA and Pre-WGA writers felt appreciated, along with writers in other fields (publishing, editorial)—especially our staff.
